Friday Night Lights for the Win

Bringing Members Together for National Cooperative Month

A new tradition has taken root in the heart of Montrose and Delta counties, bringing communities across our service area together through exciting competition. Sponsored by DMEA and Elevate, Friday Night Lights transformed four high school football games and one high school volleyball game into vibrant celebrations of local pride and spirit. DMEA and Elevate covered the cost of admission for each game, donated $2,000 to each school's technology department, and handed out school-specific swag, creating a unique and spirited experience for the whole community.

DMEA and Elevate recognize the power of community and want to strengthen the bonds that tie our communities together. “It all began with a vision to create something more than just a sporting event,” said Paige Berry, DMEA Community Relations and Engagement Specialist. “We created this series as free entry for all, where young and old can participate and feel part of something more than just a game.”

Games were held at each high school in our service territory, including Montrose, Cedaredge, Olathe, North Fork, and Delta High School. Elevate presented a $2,000 check to the host school during each event to help address their technology needs. The aim of these funds is to enhance the learning environment by supporting the purchase of new equipment, software, and other tech tools that can better prepare students for the future. The $10,000 in tech donations further strengthens Elevate’s commitment to fostering local growth and empowering students to thrive in a technology-driven world.

Each game in the Friday Night Lights series was nothing short of electric. The stadium filled quickly with families, friends, and fans flooding the stands. Many arrived early to soak up the atmosphere, walking under the American Flag held by DMEA and Elevate bucket trucks. As they entered, fans were greeted with t-shirts and pom poms matching each school’s colors. These simple handouts put a smile on everyone’s face and allowed them to proudly show their school spirit.

The success of Friday Night Lights extended beyond just one game. Word spread quickly about the events, and the series continued to draw large crowds week after week. Friday Night Lights became games beyond football—they were about appreciating our members in each of their hometowns and helping to light up much-loved stadiums with the excitement that comes from rooting for your own. Friday Night Lights reminds us that our membership makes us stronger, and there is nothing like cheering for your team under the stadium lights on a Friday night.
