DMEA Doubles Scholarship Awards, Offering Over $100,000

January 31, 2025

Montrose, CO – Delta-Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) is proud to announce that applications are now open for its annual scholarship program. DMEA has doubled its scholarship awards this year, providing more than $100,000 to local graduating seniors and continuing education students. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2025.

“At DMEA, we are committed to the cooperative principles that guide us, including a deep investment in our community’s future,” said Jack Johnston, CEO of DMEA. “By supporting the education of our youth, we’re not only helping individual students achieve their dreams but also building the future leaders who will strengthen and sustain our region for years to come.”

The scholarships, funded by prior year unclaimed capital credits, are available to high school seniors, non-traditional students, and continuing education learners in DMEA’s service territory. This year marks a milestone as DMEA introduces a second Guzman Character Scholarship in partnership with Guzman Energy, DMEA’s wholesale energy supplier. This award is for two students demonstrating exceptional leadership, community involvement, and resilience regardless of academic performance.

DMEA’s scholarship program has grown significantly over the years. In 2024, the co-op awarded $50,000 in scholarships. In response to community needs and its commitment to education, DMEA has now doubled its investment, ensuring an even greater impact on students' access to higher education opportunities.

Students interested in applying can find detailed eligibility requirements and application instructions on the DMEA website at dmea.com/scholarships. Applications must be submitted online by March 31, 2025.
