Celebrating Achievements this New Year

As we usher in a new year here at DMEA, I am proud to report on our accomplishments in 2024, and I look forward to all we have planned for 2025. From community engagement to safety, here is a report on our progress:

Community First

From sold-out football stadiums at Friday Night Lights to assisting seniors with Elevate 101 sessions to supporting the next generation through scholarships, DMEA is proud to invest in our community with over $222k of local sponsorships and donations. Check out the infographic on the back of this newsletter to learn more about our community impact. We look forward to partnering with you in 2025.

It’s Better Here . . . Elevate Subscribers Top 15k

Thank you to over 15,000 subscribers who have chosen Elevate to bring high-speed, local internet into their homes. This is a significant milestone for Elevate. Our team is committed to providing reliable, fast, local internet and we are grateful for your trust.

DMEA Meeting Demand

In late November of 2024, the number of meters in our service territory reached 37,000. This is a significant achievement in our 86 years of service. We are proud to be able to meet the needs of our communities with reliable electricity delivered by the safest means possible for our members.

Our Culture of Safety

I am still beaming about the exceptional RESAP (Rural Electric Safety Achievement Program) safety score we received this fall. DMEA earned 17 ratings of Satisfactory Performance and one rating of Strong Performance, which is extremely difficult to achieve.

As we begin another year at DMEA, I want to thank our members and employees for contributing to these achievements. We are building a brighter, safer, and more connected future for our communities.

What is Demand?

Your new and improved bill, coming this May, will include electric demand. Here’s why:

Demand is the amount of power needed to supply every electrical device running in your home or business at one specific point in time, as measured in Kilowatts (kW). Starting in May, we’ll list demand, or the maximum electricity load your household draws at one point during the month, on your bill.

When you use several appliances at the same time, it increases energy demand. At this time there is no extra charge for this, but we make sure there’s enough electricity for everyone. Now, with new technology and smart meters, we can measure demand so our members can see and control how much energy they use.

Router Placement

Locate your router centrally

Position your router in the center of your home, ideally on the main floor, to ensure an even signal distribution. Avoid placing it in a corner, basement, or far side of the house. If you have a large home, consider upgrading with mesh extenders.

Elevate isn’t just our company name

Mount the router in an ‘elevated place’, like high on a shelf or wall to minimize obstacles and improve signal range. Wi-Fi signals travel better when not blocked by furniture or other objects.

Interference is your enemy

Avoid placing the router near devices that emit signals (e.g., printers) or near metal objects and thick walls, which can disrupt the signal.

Keep away from pets

Ensure pets are not able to chew fiber or cords on the inside or outside of your house.

Test your signal

Run a speed test to ensure your signal is coming through at the speed you anticipate by using the ElevateIQ app.
